Everyone has a destiny.  Everyone has a calling.  From a very young age, Michael Wayne Smith knew what he was destined to do.

Michael is a Christian singer / songwriter from Oak Ridge, TN and for the last few years has primarily been known in the gospel music industry for his songwriting efforts. Most notably, the song “My Home”, recorded by the group Heirline, was a number one song at many radio stations across the country in 2005 and now has become a standard in many churches today.

Although he has been singing and writing songs for years, it wasn’t until February 2008, that Michael fully surrendered to the Lord by accepting the call to begin traveling across the country and sharing the music God has placed in his heart. With his family by his side, they have seen the ministry grow and have seen the favor of the Lord because of their obedience.

In October 2008, Michael released his first major recording, Welcome Home, through Church House Music.  A few months later, he released his first radio single, “The Reason That I Sing”. This song is Michael’s theme song and he sings it everywhere he goes.

In October 2009, the second single, “Everything’s Fine”, was released to radio and quickly received overwhelming response by radio listeners everywhere.  Christian bookstores around the country began seeking out the virtually unknown singer of this powerful song.   This ultimately led to a distribution agreement with one of the largest Christian distributors in the country.  Michael says the reason the song has done so well is because everyone can relate to it.  Everyone gets bad news from time to time; everyone eventually faces a problem they simply can’t overcome by themselves. And, it’s only through Christ that our problems can be challenged and we can have victory.

Michael and his wife, Kelley, have been married for 20 years and have two daughters, Kerri and Kasey. They have seen both good and bad times in their life together. Through each challenge, they have always trusted God and seen His mercy and grace.  Many of Michael’s songs are products of life experiences and examples of God's enduring love.

Michael released his CD “The Days Ahead” in May 2011 and the first single, “Until The Storm Is Over” was a #1 hit at radio stations across the country, staying on the gospel music charts for 9 months.  The song comes at a time when people are facing storms of many kinds and, through this song, they are reminded that God will never leave nor forsake them.

In 2011, Michael was featured in a full page article in the Singing News magazine and was also nominated as the SGM Fan Fair 2011 Male Vocalist of the Year.

In 2012, Michael released two new recordings.  First, a "Live" DVD and CD and just recently, a project of all hymns entitled "Heritage".

When you attend an evening of ministry by Michael Wayne Smith, you will be blessed and encouraged and, without a doubt, you will be glad you came.
